  6. This is a beta version of the codecs.library. This
  7. library manages codecs in a similar way the datatypes
  8. library manages datatypes.
  9. Each codec implements a specific compression algorithm,
  10. but they all share a general interface.
  11.  
  12. A initial image codec has been written by me that
  13. compresses 8 and 24 bit images much better than
  14. GIF or PNG do.

  16. Included in this archive are:
